More Week 6 Posts

I watched a tour about the Holocaust, and I thought that using Google Earth is a great tool to use while teaching history. I was more curious about the history and what happened in different places. Having an actual place to visit helped me visualize the events in history that took place there . . . it was almost like reliving the history. Another tour used Google Earth to explore the places of a book. I think they were focusing on the story of James and the Giant Peach. I would love going through a tour like this, especially if it was for a book that I had really liked. You'd be amazed about what happens to your imagination when you can visit the places discovered in a good book. A final tour used Google Earth to visit the wonders of the world. Most likely a student will not be able to visit these places, but Google Earth can serve as a substitute. It cannot completely replace how amazing it would be to visit these places in person, but it can allow you to visually imagine yourself there.
